Eureka and nearby Ferndale are noted for their Victorian houses, among which is the ornate Carson Mansion, the "Queen of California Victorian houses", in contrast to foggy Crescent City, North of Redwood National Park, which still suffers from the devastation brought by a tsunami in 1964.
