| Alaska is a land of enormous proportions, overwhelming natural beauty and grandeur, America's Final Frontier. The state is a fifth the size of the USA, but the population is far less than one milion, with half of them living in the city of Anchorage. Most of the state is made of wild mountains, glaciers, and rivers of a scale difficult to imagine. Many of them are preserved in eight National Parks which alone account for a significant portion of the lands adminstered by the National Park Service. |
