As a city that constitutes the commercial heart of Vietnam, accounting for more than a quarter of its retail trade, Saigon is a place where you can find everything. Sometimes it is difficult to make the distinction between streets lined with stalls and vendors spreading their wares on the sidewalk, and markets. This distinction becomes clear when you visit the wholesale markets, where impressive amounts of goods are lined up. In particular, a number of them can be found in the district 5, Cholon. Cholon is the Chinese district, and means "big market", an indication of the role played by the entrepreunerial Chinese in Vietnam's economy.
