Maritime Alps, France

Pictures by QT Luong

The Maritime alps, in the South-East corner of France, are at the meeting of the Alps and the Mediterranean. While the coast has been heavily developped (as the Cote d'Azur), the interior has preserved its natural beauty and historical heritage. The mountains comprise one of France's National Park, the Mercantour, and are full of small high-perched villages which have retained their traditional architecture and livestyle.
