Winnemucca Lake makes for an easy, but beautiful backpacking trip starting from Carson Pass. In June 2003, when we camped there, we shared the gorgeous granite-rimmed lake with only another party. A hike to the summit of Round Top Mountain provides a tremendous panorama over the surrounding mountains and lakes.
