McCarthy is a quirky little town (year round population of less than 50), with distinctive buildings and character. McCarthy, an enclave in the middle of Wrangell St Elias National Park, is reached at the end of the McCarthy road by crossing on foot or bicycle a footbridge over the Kennicott River.
