Byodo-In

The Byodo-In is a replica of a 900 year old temple in Uji, Japan. It was completed in 1968 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the islands of Hawaii. The temple is fashioned to evoke a Phoenix, its wings outstretched, about to land on the pond.
