Lacock (a National Trust site, used as the backdrop of many movies) and Castle Combe (often called the prettiest village in England), are two particularly well-preserved medieval stone villages in Wiltshire. There are no TV antenas or aerial cables. Most of the stone buildings, constructed in stone with thick walls and roofs made from split natural stone tiles, are many hundreds of years old.
