Sweden is a peaceful, socially progressive, clean, and uncrowded country where the friendly people enjoy exceptionally high standards of living. There is beautiful nature, fresh air, forests, and water everywhere. The cities and towns, as well as the farms in the countryside have pronounced nordic character, and significant resources are devoted to the preservation of the culture.

In 1994, I traveled by for two weeks in a circle around Stockholm, visiting Uppland, Central Sweden, and Gotaland down to the Lake Vettern, occasionally pitching the tent in someone's land, as this is the accepted practice there (Allemansratt, the public's right to access private land, within some reasonable rules such as avoiding camping too close to a home or private yards, not walking on crops or disturbing anything...).
