Tower Bridge, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, is a bascule bridge built between 1886 and 1892. The central span of 200 feet (61 m) between the towers is split into two bascules, which can be raised in one minute to an angle of 83 degrees to allow river traffic to pass.
