Oahu, nicknamed "The Gathering Place", is by far the most developed of the Hawaiian Islands. Home to 75% of the population of the islands, Oahu has a real urban scene comparable to any other large city, and a large number of attractions. Although most of the visitors to Oahu stay in Waikiki, Oahu has also a lot to offer in terms of accessible natural beauty. Around Oahu island are fluted mountains, turquoise bays and excellent quiet beaches. I spent one week on Oahu in April 2005 on a family vacation, exploring mostly the East part of the island. |
