The east coast of Kauai is sometimes referred to as the "coconut coast" because of the large number of coconut trees. It is the most densely populated area of Kauai, although Lihue, Kauai's main town, has only a population of 5,000. Lydgate park offers a long beach with good family facilities such as protected swimming and snorkeling, and a paved waterfront trail. There are two beautiful waterfalls inland that are easily viewed.
