Puerto Vallarta is a popular tropical beach town next to the beautiful Bahia de Banderas (Bay of Flags). Its cobblestone streets, red tile roofs, and steep streets have allowed her to retain character, despite the touristic and cosmopolitan atmosphere (the city is practically bilingual). While many streets are bustling with activity at any time of the day or night, one area that is particularly lively is the seaside walkway known as the Malecon, decorated with whimsical statues. The area around the town offers something for everyone, from small traditional fishing villages and pristine beaches, to luxury resorts.
