With a rich artistic past (Durer, the Master Singers), Nurnberg has long been considered a focus of the German culture. The bad souvenirs of the Nazi, which chose it to hold their annual conferences, and then of the war crime tribunal, have been long replaced by a cathartic activity. Although the town was almost entirely destroyed during the WWII, it has been remarkably restaured. The old town has beautiful churches, among which the Sankt Lozenz Kirche and the Liebfrauenkirche, and many timbered houses. Wurzburg is 170km north-west of Munich, in Bavaria.
