Kunming, the capital of Yunnan is said to be the city of eternal spring, because of its pleasant climate year round. It is quite relaxed for a large Chinese city. Although dominated by large avenues and steel highrises, the city has still (but for how long ?) a few pockets of vibrant back alleys lined with wooden buildings, street vendors and roadside masseurs, mostly around the intersection of Zhengyi Lu and Dongfeng Lu which constitues the heart of the shopping area. It is an quarter where you can also see a sizeable Muslim community.
