San Francisco is consistently ranked as one of the most liked cities in the world. In my opinion, it is certainly the most pleasant city in the United States. The weather is mild year-round, mostly sunny. The natural setting between the Bay and the wide Pacific Ocean beaches, is just a bridge away from the pristine hills of Marin to the North. Breathtaking views from incredibly steep streets to which the cable-cars cling, a maritime tradition that shows in a number of marinas, piers, and the fisherman's wharf, well known landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island, and a variety of Victorian and contemporary architecture contribute to make the city one of the most picturesque in the world. Besides those touristic aspects, San Francisco offers to its residents a great ethnic diversity with significant Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Russian, and Mexican communities, districts full of characters, and a number of yearly lively events that fill up the city's streets.
