Home / More 360 panos     The Meadowlands, San Jose CA
This was the very first aerial 360 panorama that I made with the Ricoh GR, a camera with an APS-C sensor and fixed 28mm lens equivalent. It took more than half a year between this panorama, and the one I made previously with the Go Pro Hero 3+ (my first aerial pano ever), because I had to figure out to mount the Ricoh GR so that it could be controlled in flight. I think you'll agree that the improvement in image quality is impressive - I don't think a DSLR does really better. A lot of it comes from the longer focal length (28mm vs. 14mm fish-eye). However, if you zoom all the way, you'll also notice the much better pixel-level sharpness despite the high ISO 1600 required to keep the shutter speed at 1/800s at sunset.
