Despite Los Angeles reputation of being a core-less and spread out city ruled by cars, its downtown is a compact area well explored on foot. The mosaic of ethnic neighborhoods let you take a quick tour around the world, while in the historic district you can, surprisingly, go back in time two centuries. The oldest building in Los Angeles, the Avila Adobe, is just a short walk away from the latest landmark, the Frank Gehry masterful Walt Disney Concert Hall. The later is part of the new cutting-edge architecture and museums that have contributed to revitalize the city center.
