East Oahu, with its dramatic coastline where the Koolau Mountains meet the ocean turquoise waters, is one of the most scenic areas of Oahu island. A mile-long hike up to Makapuu head yields some of the best views. The long and wide beach at Waimanalo is often one of the calmest in that part of the island.
