Lahaina is a historic city on Maui, the former capital of the Kingdom of Hawaii before Honolulu, and then a major whaling center. Much of the tourist activity in Lahaina takes place along Front Street, which dates back from the early 19th century, and is lined up with restaurants, shops, and art galleries. The nearby Kaanapali Beach resort was the first master-planned resort in the US.
