Seattle is the largest city in the northwest United States, with a particularly attractive natural setting. Seattle is situated on the edge of the Puget Sound, and only a few hours away from Mount Rainier, which can be clearly seen from the city on a clear day. The most recognizable Seattle landmark is the Space Needle, a 600 feet tall tower built for the 1962 World Fair. Another popular Seattle attraction is the Pike Place Market, one of the oldest continually operated public markets in the United States.
